Two US Navy fighter jets collided midair during an airshow in Idaho, crashing into a massive fireball in front of thousands of spectators. The incident occurred on Sunday during the Gunfighter Skies event at Mountain Home Air Force Base when two E/A-18G Growler jets made contact while performing a high-speed aerial demonstration.
Videos shared online captured the dramatic moment the aircraft tangled in the sky before spiraling toward the ground and exploding on impact, triggering a large brushfire. All four crew members managed to eject safely just seconds before the crash, with parachutes seen opening above the scene.
Officials later confirmed that all four crew members were in stable condition and no spectators were injured. Emergency teams quickly responded as the base was temporarily placed on lockdown and visitors were instructed to remain on-site while firefighters controlled the blaze.
The remainder of the two-day airshow, which featured the US Air Force Thunderbirds, was cancelled following the incident. Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the cause of the collision.
