Two Chittagong University students, critically injured in recent clashes, have been placed on life support at Parkview Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The injured are Imtiaz Ahmed from the Department of International Relations and Mamun Mia from the Department of Sociology. Hospital authorities confirmed that both have been on life support since Sunday night.
Doctors at the ICU reported that both students underwent surgery and remain on life support. Mamun’s condition has slightly improved, and his life support may be withdrawn by Monday afternoon. However, Imtiaz’s condition is still critical.
ICU consultant Dr. Mohammad Amin told Prothom Alo, “Both sustained severe head and brain injuries along with heavy blood loss. While Mamun is showing better physical response, Imtiaz’s condition remains uncertain.”
Hospital authorities also confirmed that six other injured students have been admitted to the casual ward at Parkview. They are Sadid Mahbub, Mizanur Rahman, Md. Saiful, Rohan, Baharul Islam, and Kamal Uddin. These students sustained injuries to their hands and feet, but their conditions have improved.
