The Norwegian Nobel Committee has firmly dismissed any possibility of transferring or sharing a Nobel Prize, following claims that Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado offered her award to former U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a joint statement on Friday, the Norwegian Nobel Committee and the Nobel Institute clarified that once a Nobel Prize is officially awarded, it cannot be revoked, shared, or passed on to another individual under any circumstances. The committee stressed that its decision is final and permanent.
The statement came after Trump told Fox News on Thursday that he would “gladly accept” the Nobel Peace Prize if Machado formally offered it. He added that he expected to meet Machado next week and described the gesture as a “great honor,” citing his long-standing wish to receive the prestigious award.
