Three individuals attempted to rob a bank in Keraniganj, Dhaka, claiming they needed money for the treatment of a kidney patient. However, police investigation revealed that their true motive was to raise money to buy an iPhone. The leader of the robbery, Leon Molla (22), along with two minors (aged 16), planned the crime after promising to buy the minors iPhones if successful. They surveyed the bank for a week and used a toy pistol and knife during the robbery attempt, which was foiled when they were caught. During interrogation, they admitted fabricating the kidney patient story to gain sympathy. Leon Molla had previously been involved in multiple crimes, including snatching.
