A Dhaka court has ordered a travel ban on former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader and 14 others. The order was issued on Tuesday (January 6) by Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faez, following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to court officials, the ban applies to several former senior secretaries and officials from various ministries. The ACC said the accused are under investigation for approving a housing project on government land in violation of laws and regulations for personal benefit. The court imposed the ban to prevent them from leaving the country and hampering the investigation.
