The person shot dead in Sutrapur, Dhaka, has been identified as “top terrorist Mamun,” who is reportedly involved in multiple murder cases, police said.
On Monday (November 10) at around 11 a.m., unidentified individuals shot Mamun in the chest near Dhaka National Medical College Hospital. He was critically injured and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Ahsan Uddin Sami, Deputy Commissioner of Lalbagh Zone, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said, “The deceased, Mamun, was a listed top terrorist. We are trying to apprehend those responsible for the shooting.”
Fayzul Haque Apu, an acquaintance of the deceased, said he received a call from Mamun’s phone in the morning informing him about the incident. He then went from Kakrail to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and identified Mamun.
He added, “The deceased’s full name is Tariq Saif Mamun, 55. He was a businessman. We had met earlier in Gazipur.”
According to Mamun’s national ID, his father’s name is S.M. Iqbal, and his home is in Mobarak Colony, Laxmipur Sadar.
Mohibullah, ward master at Dhaka National Medical, said the shooting occurred in front of the hospital at around 11 a.m. He heard the gunshots and saw a man lying on the road in a pool of blood near the main gate.
He added that the victim was immediately taken to the hospital and, due to his critical condition, quickly transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
