Despite ranking third in South Asia, the country lags behind India and Pakistan, which published 3.34 lakh and 42,353 papers, respectively. Dhaka University led with 1,500 publications, followed by Daffodil International University and BUET. Key research areas included engineering, medicine, and computer science. Limited government funding and resources, along with flawed university recruitment, were cited as barriers. Dr. Monir Uddin Ahmed emphasized scientific advancement as crucial for national development and security.
