The tourist police have rescued three school students who went missing in Karnaphuli, Chittagong, from Cox's Bazar. They were found at Sugandha Point on Cox's Bazar sea beach on Monday night.
The rescued students are Monir Hossain, son of Abul Kasem; Akibul Ali, son of Mohammad Ali; and Khan Mahin, son of Khan Ataur Hossain. All three are 13 years old and study at Azim-Hakim School. They went missing Monday morning after leaving home to go to school.
According to locals, the students—Monir, Akibul, and Mahin—planned to skip school and take a trip. They took money from their fathers’ pockets—one took 5,000 taka, the other 1,000 taka—and went to Cox's Bazar without attending school.
When they did not return home on time, their guardians began searching. A general diary (GD) was filed at Karnaphuli Police Station in the afternoon. Later that night, the tourist police rescued the children from Sugandha Point, finding them still in their school uniforms.
Additional DIG of Tourist Police Apel Mahmud said a police team was dispatched after the GD was filed, leading to the safe rescue of the three students.
Azim-Hakim School and College Principal Mohammad Manjurul Alam Janan confirmed that the students had left home to attend school but did not arrive. They were later located in Cox's Bazar and brought back with police assistance.
