The Jatiya Nagorik Party was officially inaugurated in a grand ceremony held in front of the National Parliament Building on Manik Mia Avenue. The event, which began at 4:20 PM on Friday, was marked by recitations of religious texts and drew a massive crowd of supporters. The gathering was centered around key issues such as the introduction of a new constitution, upcoming parliamentary elections, and the aspirations of the country's youth. Thousands of individuals from various districts gathered to attend, and a poignant moment was observed when a one-minute silence was held to honor the martyrs of the July mass uprising.
The party was established by prominent leaders from the Jatiya Nagarik Committee (JNC) and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM). During the event, the leadership structure of the party was officially announced, with Nahid Islam appointed as the convener and Akhter Hossen taking on the role of member secretary. Other significant leaders within the party include Samanta Shermeen, Ariful Islam Adeeb, Tasnim Jara, Nahida Sarwar (Nova), Nasiruddin Patwary, Abdul Hannan Masud, Sarjis Alam, and Hasnat Abdullah.
The formation of the party and its name were confirmed on Facebook, with the leadership expressing their hope that the party's message would resonate across the nation. In addition to the launch of the Jatiya Nagorik Party, another student group named "Gonotantraik Chhatra Sangsad" was introduced. However, this new group faced opposition, as it sparked protests from certain activist factions.
