Fatima Tasnim Juma, newly elected secretary for Liberation War and Democratic Movements in the Dhaka University (DU) Chhatra Dal, declared, “This victory is for Muslims, for non-Muslims, for those who wear hijab, and for those who don’t. This victory is for women, for DU, and for every one of us. May God grant us the strength to uphold the dignity of this achievement.”
Earlier, after being nominated by Chhatra Shibir, Juma faced cyberbullying when some of her personal dance videos were circulated on social media. While she addressed the issue in several interviews, the majority of reactions under those videos turned out to be supportive.
