The government has announced that ballot papers and other essential election materials for the upcoming parliamentary elections will be delivered to polling centres on the morning of the voting day itself. This decision has been taken to prevent a recurrence of ballot-stuffing incidents, which in previous elections occurred during the night before polling.
Officials stated that although election materials will be handed over to the local administration on the night before the election, their distribution to polling centres will not commence until the morning of the vote. In an effort to ensure transparency, CCTV cameras will be installed in all polling stations, and all law enforcement personnel assigned to election duty will be required to wear body-worn cameras throughout the day.
These measures were finalized following a meeting held on 9 July between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and the Ministry of Home Affairs at the State Guest House Jamuna. In a televised speech delivered on July Uprising Day, Dr. Yunus also announced that, on behalf of the interim government, he will formally write to the Chief Election Commissioner, requesting the Election Commission to schedule the next national elections in February 2026, ahead of the upcoming Ramadan.
