Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, expressed the party's support for Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus's proposal to lower the voting age to 17. He stated, "We support making them voters. These are the individuals who have sacrificed their lives on the streets. What we couldn't achieve, they accomplished with Allah's help, turning the impossible into reality." He further added, "The youth who brought us independence and gifted the nation its freedom deserve our utmost love and gratitude. We will cherish them with respect and affection. For 15 and a half years, political parties were unable to overthrow the autocratic regime, but it was the courage, leadership, and determination of our youth that succeeded in bringing it down. They are our pride."
