Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the BNP’s Standing Committee, has stated that the people of Bangladesh are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to cast their votes. During a press interaction at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Monday (June 16), he remarked, “If someone asks the people whether they prefer polao and korma or the right to vote, the people of Bangladesh will undoubtedly say they want to vote. They don’t mind enduring hunger, but they want their voting rights.”
In response to a question regarding the ongoing discussions about elections, he emphasized that the people want their voices to be heard and reflected through fair voting. He pointed out that there is a whole new generation—millions across the country—that hasn’t had the chance to vote in the past 17 years. According to him, the moment the government gives a clear signal about elections or when it is announced that the Election Commission will set a date, the people’s excitement becomes evident. Sharing his own experience, he said, “I visited a village recently, and I witnessed the people’s enthusiasm myself. I believe this enthusiasm is widespread across the country.”
