The Thai government has made the decision to allow ordinary passport holders from Bangladesh to enter Thailand with an e-visa. Travellers from Bangladesh might have access to this facility as early as next year.
This information was provided by Ambassador Worrayot Pompraphan, Director General of the Consular Affairs Department of Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a meeting with Bangladesh's ambassador to Thailand on Thursday, October 24.
Bangladeshi regular passport holders will be able to apply for Thailand visas online from home once the e-visa is released, the embassy said in a statement. Thailand has already implemented this service in 69 of its embassies.
When applying for a visa from Dhaka, Bangladeshi passport holders who are interested in receiving medical care in Thailand were urged by the Director General of the Consular Affairs Department to apply for a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). Each visit will allow a stay of up to six months, and this visa and a caregiver's visa will be valid for five years. He added that Thai immigration would not need a letter of reference from the Bangladeshi Embassy in Bangkok in this instance.
