In the Batrish area of Kishoreganj district, an incident of idol vandalism occurred at the Shree Shree Jiuar Akhara during Durga Puja. The event took place in the early hours of Thursday, October 3, at the Akhara located on Manipurghat Road, near the large market. Notably, this year marks the first time Durga Puja has been organized at this Akhara. For security, members of the local Gopinath Sangha were assigned to keep watch overnight, with five members staying awake until 4 a.m. However, between 5 a.m. and dawn, vandals damaged the idols. Plans to install CCTV cameras at the temple for added protection were delayed due to rain the previous day.
