At Doikhawa Adarsha College in Lalmonirhat, Principal Mofazzal Hossain initiated a “Ten Taka Food” canteen to provide affordable meals for students and staff. Located in a remote area, where many live below the poverty line, the canteen offers lunch for only 10 Taka, consisting of lentil and vegetable khichuri with an egg. The initiative, running for five years with support from the principal’s personal funds, has benefitted the college’s 700 students. Despite rising food prices, students express gratitude for the canteen, which helps them avoid buying expensive meals. Principal Hossain hopes for external support to maintain this essential service and provide more nutritious meals.
