Lawyer Manzur Al Matin recently shared his thoughts on social media regarding the ongoing conversation about LGBTQ rights. He stated, "The fight against the July coup is a battle against oppression and labeling. Those who have joined this cause, and continue to fight, believe in the possibility of a Bangladesh where everyone can stand together and freely express their beliefs or lack thereof. When the name of Kalpana Chakma is mentioned in this struggle, the people of the country are united in recognizing the long-standing oppression faced by indigenous communities." He further remarked, "No one has argued that granting these communities their rights will divide the nation. Advocating for LGBTQ rights today does not infringe upon anyone's right to practice Islam. Just as Islam encompasses various interpretations, so too is there diversity among its followers."
