A man named Md. Anwar Hossain tragically took his own life by hanging himself after he was unable to arrange the necessary funds for his mother’s medical treatment. The heartbreaking incident occurred early on Tuesday morning in the village of Railla, located in Fakurhati Union, Saturia Upazila, Manikganj.
According to reports, Anwar’s mother, Satera Begum, had been battling multiple long-term health issues, including diabetes and heart disease. Anwar, the son of the late Kiyaz Uddin from the same village, had been trying desperately to gather the required money for her medical care. His neighbors revealed that, due to her ongoing health struggles, Satera’s treatment was proving to be extremely expensive, and Anwar found himself unable to meet the mounting costs. This financial burden weighed heavily on him, causing severe mental anguish and frustration. Feeling overwhelmed and helpless, Anwar succumbed to despair and hanged himself from a ceiling fan.
Md. Shahinul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Saturia Police Station, confirmed the tragic event and shared that Anwar had been facing immense difficulty in managing the medical expenses for his mother while also trying to support his own family. Unable to balance the cost of his mother’s treatment with the need to provide for his household, Anwar made the heart-wrenching decision to end his life.
