In Bogra’s Dupchanchia area, a young man, Saad bin Azizur, aged 19, has been arrested for killing his mother, Umm Salma Khatun, in a dispute over money. Saad allegedly strangled her, tied her hands and feet with a veil, and hid her body in a household freezer. Attempting to make the murder look like a robbery, he damaged a closet with an axe before leaving the house. Later, Saad tried to mislead family members, including his father, by reporting his mother as missing. RAB-12’s Major Ehteshamul Haque Khan confirmed Saad’s arrest during a press briefing on November 12. Khan explained that Saad, a madrasa student with a habit of online gambling, often argued with his mother about financial issues. On the morning of the murder, Saad, angry over not receiving money, waited until noon before returning home. He approached his mother, who was cutting vegetables, and suffocated her after a struggle, concealing her body in the freezer. Police used technology to trace Saad to his grandfather’s home in Kahalu upazila, where he was arrested. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder. A case has been filed against him, and police are proceeding with the investigation.
