The dengue situation in Chattogram has reached a critical stage, with six areas—Kotwali, Bakalia, Bayezid Bostami, Bandar, Pahartali, and Khulshi—classified as 'Red Zones' due to a surge in infections. From September 1 to 30, 2023, 515 cases were identified across 23 city areas. In total, Chattogram saw 907 dengue cases in September, with 585 in the city and 322 in rural areas, while 11 deaths occurred that month, bringing the year’s total fatalities to 16. Local authorities are ramping up awareness efforts and mosquito control activities. Health experts emphasize the need for public cooperation and continued prevention measures to curb the spread of the virus.
