After the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government in the student-public movement, the interim government implemented significant changes to the curriculum and textbooks. The 2012 curriculum replaced Sheikh Hasina's version, removing the exaggerated portrayal of her government's development activities. New textbooks include content about the July Uprising of 2024, highlighting the government’s oppressive actions, student protests, and the government’s eventual escape from Ganabhaban. On August 5, 2024, as protesters gathered, sensing imminent defeat, Sheikh Hasina fled the country, marking a turning point in the movement. Key changes include updated historical narratives, such as Major Ziaur Rahman’s declaration of independence in 1971, and revised depictions of national leaders. The textbooks feature new chapters about the July Uprising and commemorate martyrs like Abu Sayeed and Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mughde. Several topics and figures, including Sheikh Hasina, have been omitted, while others, like Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque and Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, have been added. New graffiti and protest images are included throughout.
