After the funeral prayer of July Uprising martyr Md. Arafat at Shaheed Minar, interim government's advisor for information, broadcasting, and telecommunications, Md. Nahid Islam, spoke to journalists. He stated, "Sheikh Hasina will return to Bangladesh to face trial and the gallows." Addressing those who fled to India, he urged them to mentally prepare for prosecution. Regarding the July-August genocide trial, the advisor emphasized it as the government's highest priority, saying, "The trial of the genocide is this government's 'top priority.' We made a one-point commitment to prosecute genocide perpetrators on Bengali soil, and we remain steadfast in that promise. Justice will be ensured."
