Bangladesh's ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's party, the Awami League, may soon begin street protests against the interim government led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus, according to a party official. "We are preparing to organize demonstrations and resume our political activities," Shafiul Alam Chowdhury, the Awami League's organizing secretary, told VOA on Friday. Speaking over the phone, Chowdhury stated that the party is working to strengthen its unity and is reaching out to like-minded political groups to mobilize protests against the interim government. "Within two weeks or a month, we could be ready to take action," the Awami League leader noted when asked about the timing of their planned street protests.
