Sheikh Hasina Listed as Atheist in Police Criminal Database

Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and leader of the Awami League, is listed as an "atheist" in the Police Criminal Data Management System (CDMS) under the religion column of the Previous Conviction and Previous Record (PCPR) database. Her daughter, Saima Wazed, is marked as Muslim, while no religious affiliation is recorded for her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy. The database also labels Hasina as a "killer" and includes her photo. Authorities explained that she was added to the system after the August 5 incidents, where she faced accusations related to student protests and alleged crimes. Her name appeared in the police records after her departure to India in 2024, with her being listed as an accused. When asked about this, a police spokesperson denied having any knowledge of such records, stating that PCPR data is confidential.
