A complaint has been filed with the International Crimes Tribunal against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 50 others for alleged 'genocide' during a Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Shapla Chottor in 2013. Hefazat’s Dhaka Metropolitan President, Junaid Al Habib, submitted the complaint on Tuesday. Hefazat leaders claim that during the previous Awami League government, the genocide was not addressed, and many of their leaders were imprisoned and tortured. They now hope for a fair trial under the interim government. The prosecutors classified the incident as genocide under the International Crimes Tribunal Act 1973.
