Shaon Mirza (25), a resident of Naopara in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur, died in a road accident in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Family sources said he was heading to a local market on a motorcycle on Monday evening when he lost control and hit a roadside tree. He sustained severe injuries and passed away early Tuesday morning while receiving treatment at a hospital.
Shaon had been working in Saudi Arabia for the past two and a half years. He was the youngest of four siblings and the only son of his family.
He was scheduled to return home later this month for Eid-ul-Adha. His mother, Jhorna Begum, shared that he recently told her, “Video calls are no longer enough.”
Md. Ashik Siddiqui, Assistant Director of the Faridpur Expatriate Welfare Center, confirmed that Shaon was a legal worker. He added that the government will provide compensation and assist in bringing his body back to Bangladesh.
