Asaduzzaman Owaisi, a member of Islami Jatiya Sangha, has been arrested on charges of rape. Police arrested him from Shahjadpur, Dhaka, on Saturday, following a case filed by the victim at the Savar Model Police Station.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Savar area, where the accused allegedly raped the victim after threatening her. Following the complaint, police launched an operation and arrested Owaisi.
He was produced before the court and sent to jail. Further legal proceedings are underway, police said.
