The Proctorial Body handed over a man to the police for producing liquor and hunting wild animals inside the Chittagong University campus. He was caught late Monday night, around 3:30 AM, in front of the hall adjacent to the university’s Faculty of Biological Sciences. Later, the police filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act and formally arrested him.
The university administration identified the arrested person as Sumon Chakma (50), a resident of Khagrachhari district. Sumon had been living near the university’s farming house for the past 10 years and was involved in hunting wild animals during this time.
According to the Proctorial Body, Sumon produced liquor right next to his house. When the area was raided, liquor-making equipment, including a small alcohol boiler, was recovered. During the search of the house, nearly 100 liters of newly prepared homemade liquor and various other materials were seized.
