Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have signed a mutual defense pact, state media from both nations confirmed on Wednesday, September 17. The deal further deepens a decades-long security partnership between the two countries.
According to a joint statement, the agreement aims to strengthen defense cooperation, maintain peace, and develop joint deterrence capabilities. It also declares that an attack on one country will be treated as an attack on the other.
The pact was finalized during a meeting in Riyadh, where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) noted that they also exchanged views on regional and global developments, alongside efforts to promote security.
