Sarjis Alam, coordinator of the student movement against discrimination, was injured in a private car accident in the Dhaka University area. The accident took place in front of the British Council around 9:15 pm on Wednesday (February 5). He received primary treatment for his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Sarjis Alam stated that he was heading to the Banglamotor central office through Dhaka University when a child suddenly ran in front of the car. As the private car braked abruptly, it hit the island, causing him to be injured.
Shuvo Howlader, a student of Ekushey Hall, said, "After hearing the news, I took Sarjis Alam to the hospital from in front of the British Council. He has a cut near his left eye and a head injury."
Dr. Jabir Hossain, the on-duty doctor at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College, confirmed that Sarjis Alam arrived at the hospital with injuries. "He had a cut near his left eye, which required stitches in the eye department. However, there is no issue with his eyes or head. He was discharged after receiving primary treatment," he said.
