At the seminar, the keynote paper was delivered by Abul Bashar Muhammad Saiful Islam, who serves as the General Secretary of the Insaf Foundation.
He emphasized, “A woman being under authority does not signify her inferiority. Rather, a woman is under a man because the man acts as her guardian. Being under authority is not a sign of weakness; instead, it provides her with security. This concept is essential for both men and women to understand: authority for a woman is fundamentally a guarantee of her safety and protection.”
Saiful further elaborated, “A woman has two primary responsibilities. The first is, as a wife, to support and encourage her husband, guiding him in both worldly affairs and religious matters. The second is, as a mother, to bear children and nurture them, raising them with care and attention. Allah has created women with the most suitable body, mind, and temperament to effectively fulfill these two vital responsibilities.”
He also remarked on the significance of the home, stating that it is the most appropriate place for a woman to carry out these duties. This is why Islam has not made it obligatory for women to participate in jihad or to pray in the mosque, as their essential roles are centered around the family and household.
