Russia is reportedly considering creating a “Ministry of Se*x” to tackle low birth rates and declining libidos, worsened by the war in Ukraine. Proposed measures include turning off the Internet and lights from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. to encourage intimacy, offering financial incentives for stay-at-home mothers, and covering expenses for first dates and wedding nights to boost pregnancies. In addition, regional authorities are introducing childbearing incentives: Khabarovsk offers £900 to female students aged 18 to 23 upon childbirth, while Chelyabinsk provides £8,500 for a first child. The petition supporting the ministry, organized by the GlavPR agency, reflects ongoing efforts to address Russia’s demographic crisis.
