Two renowned rappers, Hannan Hossain Shimul and Muhammad Shezan, have been featured in new textbooks for their impactful contributions to the 2024 July Uprising. Their songs, "Awaaz Utha" by Hannan and "Kotha Ko" by Shezan, became powerful anthems of resistance, amplifying the public's anger, frustration, and demand for justice against autocratic rule. These tracks echoed through the streets, inspiring the oppressed and fueling the movement. Their bold use of music as a form of protest has cemented their place in the history of modern resistance in Bangladesh. Hannan's "Awaaz Utha," with its compelling lyrics and heartfelt beats, struck a chord with the masses and played a key role in the protests, even leading to his 12-day arrest following the song's release. Meanwhile, Shezan’s "Kotha Ko," released shortly before, became a rallying call for people to raise their voices against injustice. Both songs are now included in the Class 7 English textbook under a section titled "New Generation," showcasing how Bangladesh's youth have used music to champion the fight for justice and freedom.
