A five-year-old boy, Md. Ibrahim Khalil, from the Pallabi area of Mirpur in Dhaka has been missing for 28 days, raising serious concerns among his family. CCTV footage reportedly shows the child entering his residential building wearing a red shirt on the day he disappeared, but there is no recorded evidence of him leaving. His father, Md. Jasim, who runs a fuchka stall, questions whether his son could have vanished inside the building itself.
The child’s sandals were found inside the main gate, and his family claims they heard a faint voice calling “Baba, Baba” in the CCTV audio, which they believe may be Ibrahim. His mother, Nasrin Akhter, who is six months pregnant, and the rest of the family have expressed deep distress, saying their repeated searches in nearby homes and the surrounding area yielded no results.
The family suspects possible involvement of people within the building, including the landlord’s family, though the landlord’s son Omar Sharif denies any wrongdoing and says Ibrahim often visited their home. Police say they have examined the scene and are analyzing CCTV footage, but have found no clear leads so far. They also note that power interruptions may have affected recording quality.
The case, initially recorded as a general diary, has been converted into a kidnapping case, but investigators say there has been little progress to date. The family, meanwhile, believes the case is being neglected due to lack of public attention.
