82-Year-Old Rabindra Mitra Walks 22 Km Daily to Deliver Newspapers
At 82, Rabindra Lal Mitra from Patiya, Chattogram, walks 22 km every day to deliver newspapers — a routine he’s followed for over 60 years. Once a printing press worker, he began distributing newspapers in the 1960s and never stopped.
Despite declining sales due to digital media, Mitra continues his work with pride, earning about Tk 8,000 monthly. He receives a Tk 600 government allowance but says it’s not enough.
Locals admire his dedication. “He’s never used a vehicle,” says a longtime acquaintance. Mitra hopes for a slight increase in support but insists, “As long as I have strength, I’ll earn my living.”
