Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain on Thursday inaugurated the book distribution programme under the Madrasa Education Development Initiative. The programme was formally launched at an event held at the Islamic Foundation in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Addressing the event as the chief guest, Dr. Khalid said the government is prioritising the promotion of Islamic education. He announced that arrangements would be made to teach Quran at the university level.
He also said the government would provide scholarships to imams, Islamic scholars, and meritorious university students, and that madrasa students would receive extended facilities for studying at leading universities. Professor Ali Riaz and Monir Hossain Hossain, among others, were present at the event.
