Protesters blocked Dhaka's Gulistan road near Bangabhaban, demanding President Mohammed Shahabuddin resign over conflicting statements regarding former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation. The group gathered at Shahbagh in the afternoon and marched to Bangabhaban, staging a sit-in from 5:00 pm, causing significant traffic disruptions. They urged Law Adviser Asif Nazrul to explain the legal process for the president’s resignation. A protester criticized Shahabuddin for making contradictory comments about Hasina’s resignation and said they might continue the sit-in overnight. Similar protests had occurred earlier at the Bangabhaban, Central Shaheed Minar, and Barishal. The president had recently told Manab Zamin’s editor that he was unable to confirm Hasina's resignation, though she reportedly fled to India during a student-led uprising on August 5.
