A Channel 4 documentary about Gaza, originally commissioned by the BBC and later rejected, won the Current Affairs category at the BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday. The film, Gaza: Doctors Under Attack, was pulled by BBC management amid concerns over impartiality before being picked up and broadcast by Channel 4 in July 2025.
During his acceptance speech, producer Ben de Pear directly addressed the BBC, asking, “Just a question for the BBC: given that you dropped our film, will you drop us from the BAFTA screening later tonight?” His comments were later broadcast by the BBC.
Gaza Doctors Under Attack is a detailed investigation into reported attacks on hospitals in Gaza, as well as allegations of the targeting and treatment of doctors and healthcare workers during the conflict.
