A lawyer was reportedly assaulted outside the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court while chanting the slogan "Joy Bangla." The incident took place on Thursday, October 17, around 9:30 a.m. Eyewitnesses, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that lawyer AZM Fariduzzaman shouted "Joy Bangla" as former Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam was being taken to jail following a hearing. At that moment, a group of pro-BNP lawyers allegedly attacked him, punching, kicking, and striking him. Fortunately, other lawyers intervened and managed to rescue Fariduzzaman. In response to the incident, pro-Awami League lawyer Morshed Hossain Shaheen commented, "I have heard about the attack on him. Most of us were busy with case proceedings at the time."
