The price of green chilies in Dinajpur's Hili market has dropped significantly within just one day. Indian green chilies now cost 240 taka per kilogram, a decrease of 160 taka per kg. Retailers attribute this price drop to increased imports from India. This information was gathered during a visit to Hili market on the morning of Wednesday, October 16. The reduction in prices has provided some relief to regular customers. Salman Mahmud Noor, a buyer at the market, shared his experience: "During the Puja holidays, I purchased green chilies for 350 to 400 taka per kg. Now, the price has fallen by 100 to 160 taka per kg, so I bought one kilogram today. However, it needs to drop further; if it reaches 50 to 60 taka per kg, it would really help people like us. The prices of all essential items are high in the market. If the government doesn't take action soon, ordinary people will face more difficulties. We want consistent market monitoring." Notably, on October 15, 231 tons of green chilies were imported through Hili land port via 27 Indian trucks.
