The first cabinet meeting under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was held on Wednesday, February 18, at the Secretariat. During the meeting, he instructed that electricity supply remain uninterrupted during Sehri, Iftar, and Tarawih.
Although primarily introductory, the meeting also discussed priority government issues. After the session, the Prime Minister’s advisors, ministers, and state ministers shared details about the discussions.
Md. Nurul Haque Nur, State Minister for Labour and Employment, Expatriate Welfare, and Overseas Employment, said the Prime Minister emphasized maintaining stable commodity prices during the upcoming Ramadan. He also stressed uninterrupted electricity during Sehri, Iftar, and Tarawih, ensuring law and order, and immediate implementation of key initiatives mentioned during election campaigns, such as family cards, farmer cards, and health cards.
The Prime Minister instructed that projects be implemented visibly, free from corruption, and provided guidance on expanding labor markets in the Middle East while maintaining law and order.
State Minister for Finance and Planning, Md. Zunaid Saki, said the government will announce a 180-day roadmap, with priority-based implementation of programs. He added that instructions were given to ensure a comfortable environment during Ramadan and to maintain normal electricity supply. Plans from the Media Commission will also be addressed.
Prime Minister’s advisor Jahedur Rahman noted that directives were given to control commodity prices during Ramadan and facilitate smooth return travel for Eid.
