Former Member of Parliament and State Minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after experiencing chest pain while in police remand for a murder case filed by Jatrabari Police Station. He was taken to the hospital on Saturday due to severe chest pain. Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector and case investigator Mojahidur Rahman confirmed that Palak was placed on a seven-day remand in connection with the murder of Shakib, a student involved in the anti-military movement in Kajla, Jatrabari. Rahman reported, “Palak felt unwell (chest pain) shortly after being brought to the police station from court in the afternoon, and was subsequently taken to DMCH around 7:45 PM." Following initial examination, he was transferred from the Cardiology Department to the Medicine Department for a 12-hour observation. Palak had been arrested by Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) on August 14 from a residence in the Nikunja area under Khilkhet Police Station, where he had been in hiding. Initially, he was placed on a 10-day remand the next day in relation to the murder of rickshaw puller Kamal Mia in Paltan and has since been linked to several other cases.
