The Government of Pakistan has introduced the Pakistan-Bangladesh Friendship Scholarship Programme, offering 300 fully-funded scholarships to Bangladeshi students across various disciplines at leading universities in Pakistan. The initiative, announced during a meeting at the education ministry on Thursday, aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. The scholarships will cover a wide range of fields, including engineering, medicine, natural sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, and business. Prestigious universities such as the National University of Sciences and Technology, International Islamic University Islamabad, Aga Khan University, and Lahore University of Management Sciences are among the programme’s partners. Secretary of Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani called on universities to promote the programme through expos, seminars, and roadshows in Bangladesh and to establish an online application portal for easier access. Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission, Prof. Dr. Ziaul Qayyum, stressed the importance of educational diplomacy and urged universities to expedite approvals and allocate necessary resources for the scholarships. This initiative follows Pakistan’s previous scholarship programmes for students from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
