Popular Islamic commentator Dr. Mizanur Rahman Azhari stated that since independence, only the rulers have changed, but the people have received nothing. One group has benefited, and another is prepared to do the same. He expressed that the people do not want this situation; they want an independent, sovereign Bangladesh, free from corruption.
Dr. Azhari made these remarks as the chief guest at the three-day Tafsirul Quran Mahfil in Jessore on Friday night (January 3). He also remarked, "Bangladesh has become a den of corruption. In the last 15 years, approximately 3.5 lakh crore taka has been looted in the name of development, while the people of this country are left sidelined."
He emphasized, "We must lead our lives and families according to Islam. Without following the prescriptions of the Quran, life will lack beauty, and society and the state will not thrive. Corruption cannot be eradicated solely by the Anti-Corruption Commission. Therefore, I advocate for the application of Quranic law. The government should focus on human resource development. I pray that those who are capable of working for Islam and the country may do so diligently."
Dr. Azhari further added, "The true identity of Bangladesh is Islam. We want the flag of the Kalima to be raised in the parliament, Bangabhaban, and all government offices of this country."
He concluded by saying, "If the people truly desire, they can conquer the world. No one can defeat us. Allah has blessed us with a large population, which is not a curse but a great asset. If we can convert this population into productive manpower, Bangladesh will achieve development far beyond its current position."
