Legal Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul emphasized that the government must remain vigilant regarding the current law and order situation, acknowledging both progress and setbacks.
"The situation has fluctuated—at times stable, at other times significantly worse," he stated. Nazrul attributed these challenges to the interim government operating with a divided police force, judiciary, and administration. He also pointed out that while some members of the ousted fascist forces have fled the country, many remain, possessing substantial financial resources and harmful intentions that contribute to instability.
He highlighted the complexities of governance in a post-revolutionary context, stressing the difficulties in restoring stability amid ongoing volatility.
Nazrul made these remarks during a press briefing ahead of a workshop organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The event, titled "Law Enforcement with Emphasis on Human Rights and Environment in the Changing Situation of the Country," was held at the PTI Auditorium in Rajshahi on Monday.
During his speech, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing law enforcement challenges. "We are determined and actively seeking solutions to improve the situation," he said.
The workshop, focused on ensuring justice while upholding human rights, brought together key officials, including Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzaman, Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Tajul Islam, as well as judges, public prosecutors, and district and police officials from Rajshahi Division.
The event provided a platform to discuss strategies for strengthening law enforcement while protecting human rights and the environment in response to the country’s evolving challenges.
