The 5% quota previously reserved for the grandchildren of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters in public and private school admissions has been canceled for grades one to nine. Under the new policy issued by the Directorate of Secondary Higher Education (MAUSHI) on October 28, only the sons and daughters of freedom fighters will receive the 5% quota. If there are no eligible students in this category, the seats will be filled from the merit list. Additionally, the admission policy includes a 1% quota for children of Ministry of Education officials, 10% for former students of government primary schools, 2% for students with special needs, and 5% for siblings and twins. Education Officer GM Mostafizur noted that the removal of the quota for grandchildren reflects a shift in focus, as the number of eligible children in this category is very low.
