Newly designed banknotes will be introduced to the market within the next six months. These new notes will no longer feature the image of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Instead, they will showcase images of religious landmarks, elements of Bengali heritage, and "graffiti of the July Revolution." Both Bangladesh Bank and the government have given their final approval for these changes. According to officials from the central bank and the Ministry of Finance, the government will release new designs for 20, 100, 500, and 1000 taka banknotes. Initially, these four denominations will not include Bangabandhu's image. It has been stated that Bangabandhu's image will be gradually removed from all types of banknotes. On September 29, the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance instructed Bangladesh Bank to submit a detailed design proposal for the new banknotes. The Currency and Design Advisory Committee of Bangladesh Bank, chaired by the Deputy Governor-1, will make the final recommendations on printing the new banknotes. The committee also includes artists. Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and Executive Director Husne Ara Shikha confirmed that the process of printing the new currency is well underway and expects the new banknotes to be available within six months.
