Nepal’s Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday, following anti-corruption protests that killed 13 people and injured over 100. The demonstrations were triggered by a leaked media file, which exposed how the government waived taxes after violence erupted under a secret business deal in parliament.
Earlier, Oli convened a meeting with all political parties, stressing that violence is not the solution and urging leaders to work together to implement changes to tax policies. He emphasized that reforms are crucial to ensure accountability and prevent similar unrest in the future.
Protesters marched from towns near the capital, demanding justice and greater transparency. Opposition parties have blamed Oli’s administration for mishandling the crisis and called for stronger measures against corruption.
Meanwhile, citizens expressed disappointment with the government’s failure to meet their expectations, saying they want to build a transparent Nepal that protects ordinary people’s rights and ensures fairness in the system.
