The National Citizen Party (NCP) is planning to propose an increase in the minimum age for candidacy in elections from 21 to 23 years, following the recommendation of the National Consensus Commission. In addition, they will be submitting a proposal tomorrow to reduce the voting age to 16 years.
This announcement was made by the party's Joint Convener, Sarwar Tushar, during a press conference held on Saturday morning (March 22) at the NCP’s temporary office in Banglamotor. Sarwar Tushar mentioned that the party would be presenting the National Consensus Commission’s proposals and opinions on Sunday afternoon. He also pointed out that, out of 166 reform proposals, the commission has indicated that 111 could be implemented without any further discussion. However, the NCP maintains that these 111 recommendations require additional deliberation.
