On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, all government and private colleges and madrasas across the country have begun a continuous 39-day holiday starting today, Wednesday. According to the holiday schedule, educational institutions will remain closed until March 28. However, parents and students are particularly curious about when schools will begin their breaks.
As per the calendar and holiday list, colleges start their Ramadan vacation today, Wednesday, and classes will resume on March 29. This information comes from the Ministry of Education’s 2026 holiday list for government and private colleges.
The list from the Secondary and Higher Education Division shows that combining Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and summer vacations, colleges will remain closed from February 18 to March 25, totaling 26 consecutive days. Independence and National Day (March 26) adds one more day of holiday, followed by the regular weekend on Friday and Saturday. Therefore, colleges will reopen on Sunday, March 29.
Additionally, for Eid-ul-Azha, there will be a 10-day holiday from May 24 to June 5. Durga Puja, Vijayadashami, Pravarana Purnima, and Lakshmi Puja will bring another 10 days off from October 18 to 29. Winter vacation will close colleges for 11 days from December 17 to 31.
As in previous years, three days of leave are reserved at the discretion of the head of each educational institution, which can be granted as needed.
